The Ontario Energy Network (OEN) is pleased to announce the 2018 scholarship opportunities available through our participation in Electro-Federation Canada's Annual Scholarship Program. The OEN is a not-for-profit organization which provides networking opportunities in support of the energy industry in Ontario. In order to continue to thrive, the industry needs to recruit talented young people and a diverse workforce.
The OEN Sustainable Development Scholarship will the granted to an Ontario undergraduate university or college student in either sustainable development, engineering and electronics with a major focus on sustainable development, or environmental studies who has completed their first year of study with a minimum cumulative average of 80%, and who has demonstrated leadership and a commitment to community service. Our hope is that the candidate will explore career opportunities in the Ontario energy sector.
If you have any friends or family who would qualify for these outstanding scholarship opportunities, please feel free to pass this information along to them.
Mark your calendars!! Registration to come soon...
On behalf of the Board of Directors of the OEN, I am pleased to announce that John Loucks has assumed the role of President and CEO of the OEN effective September 1, 2017. John joined the OEN earlier this year as President, and has been working closely with the former CEO, Gord McBrien in transitioning Gord's responsibilities, and absorbing as much of Gord's wealth of knowledge as possible. For his part, although Gord is retiring, he will naturally remain engaged with the OEN, and will continue as Special Advisor to the CEO. As one of the founders of the OEN, it is great to still be able to call upon Gord's knowledge and insight.
Please join me in congratulating both of these gentlemen.
