Members of the Ontario Energy Network (OEN) encourage post-secondary students to explore the many exciting career opportunities in the Ontario energy sector! OEN is a not-for-profit organization that provides networking opportunities in support of the energy industry in Ontario, as well as supporting charities important to the sector and an industry-focused scholarship program. In order to continue to thrive, our vital industry needs to recruit talented young people and a diverse workforce.
The OEN and our partners offer the following four scholarships for Indigenous Energy, Women in Energy, Sustainable Development, and Nuclear Studies students:
OEN Indigenous Energy Scholarship
The OEN Indigenous Energy Scholarship will be granted to an Ontario indigenous undergraduate university or college student who has successfully completed at least one year of study in the electrical trade, engineering, IT, or business disciplines, and who has demonstrated a commitment to community service. Our sector includes many exciting indigenous energy initiatives and partnerships that may be of interest to indigenous students.
OEN Women in Energy Scholarship
The OEN Women in Energy Scholarship will be granted to a female Ontario undergraduate university or college student, in either an Engineering or Business program, who has completed her first year of study with a minimum cumulative average of 80%, and who has demonstrated a commitment to community service. Our hope is to encourage candidates to explore career opportunities in the Ontario Energy sector.
OEN Sustainable Development Scholarship- sponsored by Alectra
The OEN Sustainable Development Scholarship, sponsored by Alectra, will be granted to an Ontario undergraduate university or college student in sustainable development, engineering or electronics, with a major focus on sustainable development or environmental studies, who has completed their first year of study with a minimum cumulative average of 80%, and who has demonstrated leadership and a commitment to community service.
OEN-Bruce Power Nuclear Studies Scholarship
The OEN-Bruce Power Nuclear Studies Scholarship will be granted to an Ontario undergraduate university or college student who has successfully completed at least one year of study in a science, engineering, technology, IT, or business discipline, and who has demonstrated a commitment to community service. Our hope is to encourage candidates to explore career opportunities in the Ontario nuclear energy sector
Preference will be given to applicants pursuing post-secondary education targeting a career in the energy sector, as well as individuals with a connection to an OEN member company such as student employment. A growing list of past winners have found exciting and rewarding careers in Ontario’s energy industry!
Our OEN scholarships are part of the Electro-Federation Canada Scholarship program, which offers over $160,000 in scholarships.
